Benefits of Clean Living

Have you ever thought about what is in the products you use on the daily? Or maybe even wanted to try new eating habits or start a new way of exercising? Clean living is an organic way of life to be morally pure. Many people turn to clean living because they feel they can improve something in their lives. There are many advantages one can gain when living “clean”. The benefits of clean living are emotional stability, mental clarity, and physical strength.

Clean living is beneficial for attaining mental clarity. For instance, “yoga is an art form of healing” (Sanctuary Yoga Room). When you’re doing yoga you leave your stress at the door, put on some calming music and take a deep breath and stretch. It gives you this peace of mind that eliminates all thought. It allows you to travel to a place deep in your mind where there is nothing but peace and quiet or in other words your happy place. “According to the British Psychological Society, yoga involves concentration on the breath and body, which makes it a great way to soothe a person mind and relieve worries, by helping discharge tension and stress, yoga poses and breathing exercises keep a person free from such negative elements” (The Five Mental and Psychological Benefits of Yoga). “there are pranayama or breathing exercises that can effectively “clear the mental cobwebs” and help to increase mental clarity. Many Yoga students will benefit from a regular practice of pranayama exercises that increase mental clarity. As your thinking becomes sharper and more focused, you will be better able to complete your academic work in a more efficient and high quality manner.”

This leads to the next advantage of clean living, emotional stability. Being a busy person and always on your feet can be draining and sometimes cause anxiety and depression. Doing all that work for long periods of time you become agitated, and because of that stressed, and when you’re stressed it resorts to you want u smoking. Times get hard and your emotions fly everywhere, especially in women. Its’s days where someone or something might be bothering you and it gets to the point to where you want to take a smoke break. Even though smoking is way that people relieve stress, it’s really not a good idea. It causes all types of health issue such as C.O.P.D. (chronic obstructive  pulmonary disease),  which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis, smoking can also cause lung cancer. If you are pregnant and smoking it can cause many birth defects such as asthma, for example Center for Disease Control or “CDC” stated that “smoking during pregnancy is a risk factor of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). So, instead of smoking during your break and inhaling all those toxins, how about taking a little 2 minute and 30 second walk around the building or even outside. Then go to the restroom, splash a little cold water on your face to wake up your skin, then gather your thoughts. When you’re finished putting yourself back together go back focused and not worried about what was bothering you. Clean living is important when in emotional crises it helps you stay focused and on the right track without all the problems that stress reliever such as smoking can cause. Getting that walk in and breathing fresh air really helps out a lot it gives you that freedom that haven’t been able to get all day because your emotions being up and down, you probably been crying, overwhelmed, stressed, don’t know what to do, but if you’re feeling like this call some friends or family, make plans, and go out. Having fun with the people you love and care about is another way of living clean to help with emotional stability. If that is what it takes to keep you from being depressed, agitated, and keep you from poising yourself then do so.

Another benefit to clean living is physical strength or being a healthier you. Now it’s few days you want to be lazy and mope around eating junk food all day, being a couch potato which is acceptable, but it’s not okay if this is a reoccurring event. I bet your asking, “what does this have to do with clean living”? Well I got an answer for you, It has everything to do with clean living. Having control over your daily routine is an important factor of clean living because maybe it is something that you could be consuming that is causing you to be less energized than usual other than an age factor. “Scientific studies have shown time and again that choosing healthy foods can reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and other diseases. A healthy diet can help prevent cancer, since up to 60 percent of cancer cases are diet-related. … A healthy diet is a lifestyle, not a fad that is dangerous or difficult to maintain”. – How does my diet affect my health? Most people in today’s society would rather go to McDonalds or Taco Bell rather than eat a home cooked meal or even have a Caesar salad, and personally I used to do that myself. I have recently found out that preparing your own food is better than eating out because you can see what is in the food and how it is prepared. For example, when choosing place to eat out at you should ask yourself these questions like, is the food fresh or frozen? how much does the food cost? quality of food and service? and the nutritional value of the food.
