Do you have a personal cell phone? Do you know that cell phones have evolved rapidly in the past few years and have become the world’s most useful electronic? Cell phones were first tested in the late 1970s by Illinois Bell in Chicago, Illinois, and they were a great success. Cellular Radio Telephones, also known as cell phones, have low-powered and lightweight radio transceiver that provides voice telephone and other services to mobile users. Although cell phones bring some conveniences and benefits to our lives, they also have some potentially dangerous effects.

Cell phones are potentially dangerous when people tend to talk on their cell phones while driving and by doing so; it creates a greater risk of getting into an accident. Sometimes when you’re talking on the phone, you tend to lose your attention on the road because of your focus on the person that’s talking to you. Once, for example, you get so angry at the person or an emergency happens, you feel rushed mentally and you basically lose your complete focus on the road. That may cause you to eventually hurt yourself or harm other people. Another idea that comes to my mind when I think of people driving while talking on their mobile phone is texting while driving. I don’t really get why people are so prideful when it comes to texting on the road with their cell phones. They think that they are so good and they don’t even need to look at the road. I mean how dumb can they be. Texting while driving is one of the common events of death that has happened in the last few years. I read an article by Jane Adams of New York Times, in a section that showed how a lady, around her 30s died when she was driving while texting with her cell phone. The car eventually hit a forest near a ranch in Texas. When the police found her, the only thing they found was her dead body and her cell phone.

The use of cell phones can affect teenage behavior in a way that it can change the person’s attitude and their way of life. Teenagers use the advantage of this electronic to cheat during tests or quizzes. Due to the technological advancements of cell phones, each phone has the capability of storing notes like a notepad that allows teenagers to type whatever they think would be in their quiz and cheat off it when the teachers not looking. With its advancements, young teens get to explore different things and things that could really hurt the young minds such as pornography and sex. You can easily download porn from the web and add it in your cell phone with a simple Gigabyte of memory. With that idea, they learn inappropriate behaviors when they are teens and as they go to high school, there great numbers of teenage pregnancy and abortion due to the pornography that have already affected their minds.

People are at an increased risk for adverse health effects from cell phone radiation. Cell phones cause electromagnetic radiation which causes cancer to the human body. In the recent study of scientists, cell phones are proven to cause brain cancer. Sometimes as I come to think of it. When using a cell phone, we don’t really think that it can cause cancer, because you simply don’t feel anything. But as time goes by, sometimes you feel like you have a headache and it really hurts. You would take an Aspirin and feel better the next day. Have you ever wondered maybe that the simple problem was caused by having your cell phone around you all the time? Researchers have proved that cell phones can cause high possibilities of headaches due to the strong electromagnetic radiation being emitted out from the phone. Not only that, cell phones are very explosive if exposed to fuel or any highly radioactive materials. This is a reason why many gas stations in Palau require that you turn off your cell phone if given fuel.

People often tell me that cell phones are the best. There are always the latest gadget cell phones out and it has so many capabilities. I’ve seen some of my classmates with the latest cell phone and, too me, it can be expensive sometimes. Imaging buying a $200 cell phone every month. Imagine for a year you would have already spent $2400. With that money you could have saved enough money for 1-2 semester of college tuition. What’s the difference! It’s just a cell phone. You use it to call or text someone. Why do you need the latest ones? It’s your covetousness. That really kills! And you say that cell phones are convenient; I already said, cell phones can cause brain cancer and can cause major mental severe problems like headaches, nausea, dizziness, and Alzheimer’s.

Finally, I would like to say that cell phones are a part of our life, but it is not a necessity. When we use cell phones it only makes our life somewhat easy, because of its advancements, we can use it for internet, work, or even as a chatting machine. However, we should not rely on cell phones too much due to its severe risks, we should seldom use it. As for me, I usually have a cell phone with me in case of emergency or calls, but when I go home, I usually turn it off. Being at home, I usually use the telephone, so I suggest that you do the same thing too. You will find that having your cell phone off during your stay at home to be relaxing than to have it on causing you to have random headaches and also the possibility of cancer. To close, I would like to tell the audience that cell phones can be dangerous and you should not rely on it too much.
