My schooling embarked at the age of 6 when I was enrolled to Sree Saraswathi Vidya Mandira for primary education. Primary schooling played a significant role in imbibing ethics to be a responsible citizen, and an ambitious individual. International Assessment for Schools conducted by The University of New South Wales helped me to develop my interest for science and get a global exposure when I was young. My earliest encounter with technology took place at this age, when my father brought a video game for me. I was astonished by the technology. My admiration for technology increased with the introduction of a fixed line telephone and a Computer in my home.

My fondness for science and love for technology grew as I joined Secondary School. Secondary School gave me an exposure to a larger volume of academic content and instilled analytical thinking in me. It also gave me an opportunity to acquire more knowledge in Mathematics, which was my favourite subject right from my childhood. My passion for science accreted when I won first place in a Science Exhibition conducted by my school. I completed my 10th Standard Board Examination with distinction by scoring a remarkable 91.04% (Among top 5% in the entire State).

It was during high school that Mobile Technology started to boom in India. I was stunned by the concept of a Mobile phone, a small handheld device, which was capable of performing numerous functions. Mobile phones changed the way people communicated and socialised. Communication became lot easier with the introduction of mobile phones. Predilection for electronic gadgets and zeal for Science and Mathematics bolstered me to choose Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Electronics as core subjects at a Pre-University level. Laboratories played a very important role for me to comprehend the theory taught in classrooms. This drew my attention towards the plenteous research going on around the world, especially in the field of Electronics. Subsequently, I dreamt of becoming a researcher to contribute something in this field. I completed my Pre-University with a score of 87.50% in my core subjects. I was among the top 10% in a pool of more than a hundred thousand Engineering aspirants. This score helped me to get admission into one of the most highly reputed colleges in the state, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering.

With tremendous development in Telecommunication Technology around the world, my fascination to perceive this technology allured me to choose Telecommunication Engineering as my major for undergraduate studies in Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. Engineering gave me a whole new perspective about Science and Technology. Four years of Engineering helped me to understand the various aspects of Communication. First year of Engineering answered some of the basic queries I had in the subject. Courses offered during the second year, helped me to comprehend the fundamentals of Communications. These subjects laid a strong foundation for me to assimilate advanced courses in telecommunication. Subjects studied during third and fourth years, fortified my aspiration for research in this field. Microcontrollers, Microprocessors, Computer Communication and Networking, Wireless Communication and Adaptive Signal Processing were among my favourite subjects.

I liked working in Laboratories and always felt that the concepts learnt will be concrete only when it is applied practically. This is evident from the scores I got in laboratories throughout my Engineering Course. Our college supported us by providing very well equipped laboratories, wherein we were given an opportunity to implement our new ideas. During my Third year of Engineering, I attended Summer Training in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), India’s Largest and oldest communications service provider, to gain more practical knowledge about Communications. This training offered me an exposure to a wide range of telecommunication technologies which is being used in real time for a country with a billion people.

In my final year of Engineering, I got an opportunity to work under a great scientist, Dr S.N Omkar, in the renowned research institute, Indian Institute of Science (IISc). In the beginning it was a challenging task for us, as undergraduate students, to meet the high standards of the Institute. We took this challenge constructively and worked harder to complete the project successfully. This project setup a platform for me to accept the challenges dauntlessly. By the end of the project, I was adept in MATLAB programming and my problem solving skills had greatly improved. We completed the project entitled “Video Stabilization using Maximum Feature Extraction” and got Project Completion Certificate from Dr S.N Omkar himself. This project is considered to be one of the unique projects in the Department of Telecommunication, Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. We got lot of appreciation on submitting the project. I completed my Engineering with an overall percentage of 69.50.
