How Colors Affect The People English Literature Essay

Colors play an important role in peoples lives. Colors, other than emotionally affecting people, also have physical effects. But, how do colors really affect the personality, mood, and the stress level of the people? Emotional and physical stress is connected with colors because people are quickly carried out by their perceptions. People tend to be affected in everything they see, and these effects involve their performance for a certain period of time due to their perceptions. In this research paper, we yearn to find out the colors that can have both positive and negative effects to people, and on how does this happen.

Color is produced when light is striking an object and reflected back to the eye. The three properties to color are hue, intensity, and value. Hue is the name we give to a color. Intensity is the strength and vividness of the color. Value is the lightness or darkness of color. Shade and tint are in reference to value changes in colors.

In 1666, Sir Isaac Newton, an English scientist, discovered that when pure white light passes through a prism, it separates into all of the perceptible colors. He also found out that each color is made up of a single wavelength and cannot be divided any further into other colors. He also discovered that light could be combined to form other colors.

Balance and harmony are achieved by the visual contrast that exists between color combinations. Investigation and understanding color relationships is the foundation of planning a successful color combination. Complementing colors highly contrast each other, and when placed side by side, enhance the color of the other. They are on opposite ends of the color wheel.

Light waves can be reflected, absorbed, or transmitted. An object is black when no light is reflected and all the wavelengths of light hitting that object are absorbed. The color of anything depends on the type of light sent to our eyes. Light is necessary if we are to have any perception of color at all. An object is colored because of the light it reflects all other colors are absorbed into that specific object. Not everyone sees the same colors or exact same shades of a color. We are capable of seeing color because our eyes have light and color-sensitive receptors.
