Libya is a fourth largest country in Africa, Mediterranean Coastline consists of approximately 1820 kilo meters length. The country board link with Egypt to the east , Chad and Niger to the South , Sudan to the Southeast, Tunisia and Algeria west of northwest respectively, its area of approximately 1,775,000 square kilometres, which has three times the surface area of France, and a population approaching 6 million people. Libya has implemented structures in charge of investment promotion which has made efforts to make available its regulation (The Ministry of Tourism Libya, 2009).
Information technology application in the Libyan school system is a question mark, how information technology can affect the education in the school there. This research focus how Libyan education system can get competitive advantage through information technology and the implementation of new polices at primary and secondary level. In this research will assess the impact of these changes on students and teachers, and to analyse whether the Libyan education system has reached a global standard, and to identify any future plans or strategies that might affect positively or negatively on Libyan educational standards.
Now a day predominant has been shift toward how the use of information in education, in Libya information how can influence the learning and teaching processes. For this research literature review will be carried down and after that primary research will be carried down and then conclusion will be drawn keeping in view of the results.
Information technology, henceforth (IT), is one of the dynamic topics that have intensively made a massive effect on education throughout the world. There is no doubt that IT has revolutionized all fields and disciplines throughout all communities. Education is one of those highly affected areas. The use of IT has supported and increased the efficiency of the teaching-learning transaction or even modified the educational processes, especially with regard to distance learning.
The conventional instructional style of a teacher having a piece of chalk in front of a classroom is still the main stream in the Libyan educational system, however, in recent years; various modes of IT have been implemented in the secondary school levels in Libya. The availability of increasingly powerful information technology facilities has opened the way for enhancing traditional teaching and learning styles.
The 28th of March secondary school in Yefren is one of those schools who attempted to welcome the idea of using IT in its classrooms. The teaching staff also were exceptionally enthusiastic to give their class sessions using the IT. This school has been selected to be the case study for this project for a number of reasons, firstly, it is considered to be the largest school in the city of Yefren, second, the researcher’s effortless accessibility to this institution as he lives very close to this area and knows it inside out. Finally, it is considered to be the first institution that used IT.
Aim of research
The aim of this research to investigate the implementation of the information technology in the secondary school of Libya taking into consideration the secondary schools of city (yefren).
Objectives:
This project aims to have an insightful exploration of the following questions:
1-In these research current methods of teaching in schools will be evaluate.
2- Identify and describe the primary weak aspect(s) in the present system.
3-To what extent is the implementation of IT in the Libyan educational system pedagogically effective?
4-What forms of IT are implemented in schools in Libya?
5-Identify the main functional characteristics that should be involved in the future plan(s).
6-What sort of challenges, if any, teachers and students have faced when they dealt with IT?
Project Outcomes/ Deliverables:
The proposed study is assumed to provide the following results:
1-The implementation of IT in the Libyan secondary schools has effectively enhanced the learning and teaching processes in terms of the following perspectives:
A-Time saving.
B -Easy accessibility to resources.
C-Handy.
2-Teachers and students will face some challenges that will be overcome by
Equipping them with some relevant courses.
3-An assessment of impacts of new polices on both students and teachers
4-A critical study of future plans and the major characteristics that should be involved.
5-Recommendations that form and implement an informatics strategy for the Libyan education system, which include: An annual assessment of the curricula, adopting an e-learning strategy, providing training requirements for teachers.
Why are you interested in the project ?
The first reason for this topic Change the rules of traditional education in Libya, and education in very Important for Libyans not only individuals, but also for society as a whole. In addition to building
Educated generation strong to make decisions right in the future in their lives. It is through education,
Will receive the knowledge and information on a large scale in all parts of the world science and knowledge, we can build a generation able to bid in all areas of life and build a strong talked for ignorance and poverty. This is the reason I chose to write about this area.
The second reason that this level (secondary) is very important because it comes after the stage of a strong and important, difficult and require great effort, and fatigue is a phase (the university), and the goals of the vacuum in the field of scientific research in the curricula of all the recent changes, and way of teaching at this level in the system education for Libby in an attempt to give a clear picture of the education system in Libya since 1969, so now in addition to highlighting the recent changes in school (secondary) and their impact on students and teachers, as well as society. To develop a solid foundation for the education system and cooperation with the workers in this sector in the form of coherent policies and Related infinitely to achieve. There is another reason to focus on how to change the curricula and teaching methods old to the newer. In addition, the adoption of information technology by Itaattoralm almost every day mean that the world Bstkhaddmh technique information is more important than ever, and the impact they have on our lives through Dbstkhaddmh Tqte information.
Placements through the study of information technology and work, in addition to this understanding and knowledge of modern science, which provides all the vital opportunities in life.
What are the key questions the project attempts to answer?
The key questions in this project are:
1-What are the new polices that entered recently been applied at secondary level?
What are the effects of these polices
2-What is the future of the Libyan education system after applying these new polices?
Who are the main people involved in the whole of the teaching process?
3-How can information systems and information technology be utilised as a source of competitive advantage?
4-Have the new changes improved the Libyan education system compared to global standards?
5-What are the most significant challenges that the government may face in the process of implementing system?
What research methods do you intend to use ?
What research methods do you intend to use and why?
This research is planned to be in the form of qualitative analysis in order to gather recent opinions and the statistics which are related to this subject.
The main research methodologies are:
1-Case study: the research will take place in three randomly selected schools in efren and also in the ministry of education. The use of case study is for the reason that this research will be accomplished in the work place to do a live study and conduct my own results besides the easy access to all the resources are available there.
2-Observation: this technique will be structured observations. Observation will be helpful to be aware of the current situation, although it’s time consuming, but it is important.
3-Interviews: this will assist to catch the opinions of people who are living the situation. In addition to explore the dimensions of the issues from these people experience.
The interviews are in forms of semi-structured to focus group and unstructured interviews to face-to-face and email interviews. Moreover, open and probing questions will be used so that the interviewee has the chance to expand his answer or add any other relevant material that may be of help.
4-Library based search in order to help to a clear background of the subject.
5-Desk Based search to be aware of the current data.
What primary and/or secondary data sources do you intend to use?
Taking into consideration the above research the primary research and the secondary can be explained as follows. Gilbert A Churchill , JR (1995) In designing the sample, the researcher must specify, among other things, (1) the sampling frame, (2) the sample selection process, and (3) the size of the sample
The primary data sources are:
1-For Interviews
Students and teachers are the data resources in the semi-structured focus group interview.
Management staff is the data sources for unstructured interviews with open-ended questions.
Observation data sources are schools in terms of both people and resources.
The secondary data sources are:
The research will create the following secondary data relating to:
Education record systems
User issues
Administration and education informatics
Internet websites
Analysis Method
Julie Pallant (2004)For the research aims, SPSS statistical software will be used. This study runs both the frequency analysis and the correlation analysis. In the Frequency analysis the numbers and the rates of respondents for all the items in the questionnaire are presented. The results of frequency analysis will be shown in the tables of frequency analysis in appendix and visual bar grapes will be made as well to show the percentage between them these chains. In addition, this study runs the correlation analysis to examine the inter-relationships among service quality, customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Correlation analysis it is good idea to generate a scatter plot first. This enable to check for violation of the assumptions of linearity and homoscedasticity .Inspection of the scatter plots also gives a better idea of the nature of the relationship between variables.
SPSS is a good package to analysis all this data, Correlation analysis gives us the view how much one variable is correlate each other
