Nature of the Link. Aid in Papua New Guinea

Aid is giving help to a person, place or thing that is in need of the assistance. One of the countries which Australia provides service to is Papa New Guinea. This type of support is known as foreign aid. When merchandises, currency, nourishment and help from individuals of a developed republic assist and provide for those in need from an evolving republic, it is known as foreign aid. There are different types of foreign aid and they are as follows; Tied aid, United aid, Technical assistance, Emergency aid and Food aid.

Tied aid is more a specification which may either include; the developed country obtaining merchandise for the country which is being aided or building substructures.

United aid is when the developed country is given a choice of how to spend the wealth which they have been donated.

Technical assistance is when skilled individuals in different areas such as educators and scientists from a developed country transfer to a developing country to help. [2]

Emergency aid is the help which a country receives if an unfortunate natural or human tragedy were to occur involving transport of vital requirements.

Food aid is the act of donating food to the countries in need which have been affected by either a natural or human disaster.

Government and Non-Government organisations are those who offer the assistance to those who need it and with these organisations come various forms such as; government aid, bilateral aid and multicultural aid. Government aid officially known as ‘Overseas Development Assistance’ (ODA) is when the government of a specific developed country has overseas units which have been developed to help those in need. They come in two different arrangements; loans and grants. Loans are when money is transferred to the given country which must later be refunded over an agreed interval with interest. Grants are when money has been donated to the country in need and does not require it to be paid back. These two form’s transactions can be given as bilateral aid – when the government of one nation transfers money to the government of another nation and multicultural aid – when another organisation e.g.: United Nations are having the money transferred through.
