Thorpe Park Soft Drink Marketing

In this assignment, I will make a justified recommendation for improving the validity of the marketing research used to contribute to the devolvement of Thorpe park’s soft drink marketing plans.

The first problem can be identified from the questionnaire is the sample size we had for 10 people. For the survey we had a question size about 10people so this is a small sample size and not big enough which makes it difficult to give a proper conclusion on what people like. We also asked students around the Reigate College and also had one inclusive question but thanks to the respondents they answered it without any hesitation. As we didn’t ask people outside from the Reigate College so the results are less usable to use for the Thorpe park soft drink.

To overcome this problem what we can do is we can make the sample sufficient size. We can also conduct the survey into different areas for example Brighton which is a city , London eyc and as there will be more people so we can print out minimum 100 survey’s so we can gather some good results and which could help to market the plan for Thorpe park soft drink.

However there are a benefit and a limitation of the suggestion. One of the benefits is  it will increase the chances of gathering accurate information and will help to making the right decision then the results will be more valid.

One of the limitations could be it would be time consuming to go to different area and ask people to do the surverys and it is physically impossible to question around 100 people because not everyone will be likely to participate so it will consume too much time and also money to print the 100 sureys.

Therefore the recommendation can improve the quality of data as there will be no bais and more accurate results. The information’s collected will be reliable and trustworthy which could help Thorpe park to develop a good marketing plan. By ensuring that the information is valid , it also ensures that the information is valuable and can be lot useful.

•What does reliability and validity mean?

Reliability is the degree to which an assessment tool produces stable and consistent results. Also, if it was carried out again that it would produce the same results.

So, if you are asking a question the results you get should be the same type of answers.

There are different way to improve relatiablity of data. One of the way to improve it by asking a number of different questions to the different people about the same topic area.By doing this we can easily see if the final result is the same so by asking a number of different questions about the same topic area will be more likely to be right.Another ways is piloting or pre testing the survey can also help to check the reliability of the survey. It was a good way to improve the reliability of the survey.

Validity refers to how well a test measures what it is supposed to measure.

Making the questions clear and aiming them accurately at the kind of information you want.

However, while reliability is necessary, it alone is not sufficient.  Therefore, for a test to be reliable, it also needs to be valid. There are different ways to improve validity. By making sure that the goals and ovjectives are clearly defined. Also to receive a positive resposnse by offering anyone who participates a £30.00 vouiucher for their rime.By offering thi skinf od methods we can seek the gold satndards of relaiblity , validity and represenattivness. However we can get others to invoved to look over the survey for troublesome wording.

•What ways can you improve validity?

Make sure your goals and objectives are clearly defined.

Match your assessment measure to your goals and objectives.

Get others involved to look over the survey for troublesome wording, or other difficulties – piloting the surveys beforehand.

Validity : Season.. winter

The 2nd problem can be identified is that there was a one or two inclusive questions. The reason we had inclusive question is that we could only design and print out the survey in the lessons so there wasn’t enough to make a conclusive survey. Also because of the lack of time so we couldn’t do any primary research on it and this is why there was an inconclusive question.

To overcome this problem if we can get more time to do this survey then we can do some primary research and qualitative research and also will have time to make the survey a bit big. We can put more questions , images etc. in it which would make the survey much better.

However there is a benefit and a limitation of the suggestion. We could use the primary research to gather first-hand information. This is more beneficial for the Thorpe Park markets plan as it provides answers to questions which are directly related to the plan. Also by gaining the qualitative data could help Thorpe park to find new suggestions for its products to fulfil customer expectations. This type of research can also be valuable, Thorpe park wants to meet the taste of different customers, it can select group members of different ethnic groups, geographical location, age. This will lead to the research being more open and representative and might even present a wider range of ideas for Thorpe Park’s development of marketing plans. One of the limitations could be is that there would be a higher budget in gathering information. As a student we won’t have a higher budget so there will be lack of funding necessary to carry out the surveys.

Therefore the recommendation can improve the quality of data as there will be no bais and more valuable results. The information’s collected will be useful which could help to make the survey much better and the valid results could help Thorpe park to develop a good marketing plan.

Reliability is the degree to which an assessment tool produces stable and consistent results. Also, if it was carried out again that it would produce more accurate results.

So, if you are asking a question the results you get should be the same type of answers.

There are different ways to improve reliabilkity fo the data. One of the way to improve the reliability is theresrach we have collected can be measured by having different resrachers following the same methods to see if the final results is the same, if the oucome are similar that it’s most likely the methods of gathering is relaibale and truthful and useful.

The 3rd problem can be identified from the question is that Within our survey  there was a bias question because we only asked the student’s age 16-19 year and also the location was bias because we only asked people from the Reigate.

To overcome this limitation what we can do is we could asked different age of people between the ages 30 and 45 because they will respond favourably to a new product. Also we can ask people from outside of the Reigate College. For example we can ask people from Brighton as they main city and also could asked people from London as its near surrey and people visits Thorpe Park a lot.

However there is a benefit and limitations of the suggestion. The benefits could be we could get more accurate results and as people with the different age could provide some serious answers which could help to ananlyse the customers and can eastablish and particolur trends. Also by asking people outside the reigate college can help us to get a lot of data from different sources so it means we can look at it properly and can analyse thoroughly which could help me to make a better marketing plan for the thopre park’s soft drink. One of the limitation could be it would be expensive to print out more than 100 surveys  and also could take a considerable amount of time to give out the surveys , analuse the reaearch data. However it would be more difficult to analyse that data because people will give different variation of answers which will make it difficult for me to analysize. So this could consume more time then expected.

Therefore the recommendation could help to improve the quality of the data as there will no bais and there will be more accurate and valid results. By ensuring the information collected is reliable and valid could help to develop a good marketing plan. It can also help to estimate the likely sales of a new product. We can make a decision which can benefit both the future customers and Thorpe Park,

If I asked people from outside the Reigate I could have got better results which could help me to make a better marketing plan for the Thorpe park soft drink.
