You can dream it you can achieve it
It is essential to dream big; think big, and I strongly believe, if you can dream it you can achieve it. However, any objective needs to be clearly charted out and the means to achieve such a dream should be well defined. After giving my ship the rudder it much deserved I am looking out to execute my aspirations.
Through beads of sweat I can finally see the finish line. Propelled forward by my loaded legs, my heart pumping loud inside, along the racing track am I struggling to make a last dashing effort. The 10,000-meter race is exhausting. Other contestants are right behind me; they are looking for chances to overtake me. I cannot afford to let off, not even a slightest bit because I have been preparing for this moment for years. “Beat them! You Must!” a voice deep inside me keeps shouting to me. In a match, there is just one aim-to win and to get the upper hand of your opponents. To do so, it is even necessary to go beyond one’s ultimate limit. Then the crucial moment comes, the moment of fulfilling one’s prescribed objective. I am by no means the smartest student in my class. But my perseverance, my pursuit of excellence, and my readiness to challenge my ultimate limit have enabled me to achieve self-transcendence time and again in my past education
For a dedicated runner, he has only one focus – to dash to the finish line ahead of his adversaries. It is a test of his stamina and he must prove his sportsmanship. For me, the sole reason for wanting to go for the Indian leadership exchange program is that I have come to the moment of facing a new challenge and I need to conquer it. The height of life is reached through repeated self-transcendences-this is what I understand about the meaning of life. I have done so in the past and I will continue to do so in the future. What I am doing at present is one of those self-transcendences-to fulfil my ambition of going for the Indian Leadership Exchange Program.
I am entering the most crucial phase in my life; a phase during which I need to make significant academic decisions that will have a bearing on my future life and career. Â After thorough introspection of my strengths and interests I have concluded that a program like the Indian leadership exchange program offered by nyu stern is apt. I am honored to apply to NYU stern because I believe this program will help me to fulfill my dream of pursuing my future career. I think NYU Stern is the best place where I can obtain knowledge from.

At such a world prestigious university at Nyu Stern, it will be possible for me to listen to the instructions of the world ‘s best teachers, to exchange with and to compete against the best students in the world. Those two factors will give me lifelong benefits. I believe formal education is very important in shaping the values, perspective and outlook of an individual. I believe that the USA is a world leader in most spheres because it is proactive in breaking new pathways. I am excited to learn in a country which is taking giant leaps to find solutions to many of mans problems. NYU Stern is known to be the institute where barriers are broken between theory and practice, and students are empowered to apply the knowledge to bring about brilliant outcomes in the real world. That is exactly what I want! I look forward to the truly global experience that NYU stern offers with its community of students from all over the globe. The fact that NYU Stern is so active and persistent with its research encourages me to contribute to the world-changing developments. Looking at the long list of famous alumni excites me.
I would like to go for this exchange program because I realized that the presumptions students have of India is as a backward and third world, I therefore consider myself an ambassador of the country and try to live up to the rich Indian culture and heritage providing appropriate and factual information to the seekers. This is one of the reason why I would like to go for this program.
I am very fortunate to study at the institution of repute, H R College. In addition to the excellent program curriculum, there is a lot to learn from the faculty that comprises of teachers who are brimming with knowledge and have intensive exposure in their fields of study.I usually document each lecture and consider it my bible going through it religiously once in a while. As a result college was not only enriching due to the rigorous academic course but also very inspiring and motivating. I would now like to learn how things work and operate on the other side of the globe and thus I feel the Indian exchange leadership program will give me an apportunity to do so.
Theory is important to do well, but it is essential to have the practical implementation of that theoretical knowledge else the learning has no meaning. This is what I see an exchange program at nyu stern will expose me to. I take every opportunity to widen my learning and implement what I have learned
It will serve as the first step towards breaking my comfort zones and learning about different cultures. More than the challenge of fitting into a new culture, there are many benefits that I as a student can get with this exchange program. These benefits include:
Education wise - It’s not actually the travel that we always love but an opportunity to study abroad. Although I really love traveling, studying is not at all times a travel-fun activity. Instead, it will be an offering of diverse opportunities for me. For instance, I can learn through a different teaching strategy that my college does not offer. Also, I will be exposed to a new learning environment, which is a great advantage for learning new things. Aside from that, I will be able to experience the differences of educational format, academic program offerings and educational philosophies. International learning and knowledge helps students towards acceptance and understanding of different cultural and community perspectives..
Awareness and adoption of alternative approaches to learning as well as analytical and problem solving skills. It will increase my interest in global issues. Â
Better awareness on cultural differences - Studying in another country opens the one to different surroundings, which makes one acquainted with the country’s customs, people and region. Perhaps, cultural awareness is the major impact of any student exchange program. Being aware of other culture also teaches the one as to how to be open-minded, thus, molding ones personality for the better.
Personality development - Being an exchange student would be my first time to live very far away from home and parental guidance. Thus I would need to make decisions on my own and suffer the consequences or enjoy the fruits of that decision. With this, I will learn how real life is, what it means to be responsible, and how being resourceful can help in survival. No wonder why most exchange students who return after the exchange program are seen with significant enhancement on their personal development. Most of them are more confident, independent, have better decision-making skills, can take risks and have a clear definition of goals in life.
Long-Term: I feel by going out of the country for studies I as well as other students would become more comfortable in foreign environments. Now a days prospective employers in almost every field look favourably upon experience gained while living overseas and knowledge obtained of another language and culture. Also I feel that an increased pressure to communicate and relate to others will develop an awareness of group dynamics and sensitivity towards others. Also after if I complete this program successfully it will reflect and show personal flexibility.
So, why would I deprive myself from this many benefits of a student exchange program offered to me by a very prestigious institution. My parents too think that Exchange programs are a great investment for a student. But more importantly, it is helpful for the betterment of the society.

The knowledge and the way of thinking that I have developed through my study of the commerce stream, together with the strong willpower that I have evolved in the process, will be my lifelong assets. . In particular, I am interested in factors that affect the competitive performance of a business concern, and the manner in which changes in technology affect an organisation’s structure, long-term business strategy, product development, manufacturing, supply chains, distribution network, information needs and standard systems. In order to gain an appreciation of these and related issues, it is essential for me to have a strong grounding in Economics, Supply Chain Management, and issues connected with Information Technology, as well as gain a General Management perspective. Nevertheless, I have never allowed myself to be a bookworm. Instead, I have always sought for comprehensive personal development in management skills, interpersonal communication, and in athletic contests While enriching my extracurricular life, The development of organizational and management skills will also become an important legacy for my financial study.Â
If one were to ask my friends to describe me they would describe me as a very pleasant, diverse, active and intelligent woman. I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am a commerce student with a flair for teaching .I also have a passion for traveling and understanding different cultures of the world. All these elements have given me a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. I strongly believe that although some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my work.
Upon completing my 10 grade my father offered me a job with a firm called Fortune Finance. This is where I learned how to apply the principles and lessons of management to real life. It was fascinating; and transformed my interest in management research into a passion. I read extensively, trying to keep myself informed about management thinking in my areas of work – structure and systems in an industry all this has given me valuable insights into the environment in which companies operate – how they affect this environment and are affected by it. It has enabled me to observe some of the better and worse ways of running a business.
The time limitation on each assignment has taught me to plan well, work systematically and keep my reports up-to-date. At the same time, having to defend my analyses and recommendations, during both internal discussions and presentations to clients, has taught me to think rigorously and creatively. Our extensive use of computers for analysis and preparation of presentations and reports has made me familiar with spreadsheet, word processing and presentation packages.
While the highly diverse nature of assignments has helped me gain a broad exposure to Indian industry, it has not been possible for me to study specific business and technology – related issues in depth. I realise that in order to be able to do so, I need a better understanding of the various facets of management; the interlinkages between different functional areas and between different business entities.
On completion of my 12 grade I took up a job as a teacher trainee at a play school called Headstart, It is ranked no 1 in india. As I mentioned earlier I have a flair for teaching and so I decided to take up this job. At this work place I learnt how a school functions , what goes behind in preaparing a lesson , innovative ways of teaching skills and last but not the least interacting with children of different intellectual levels which made me realize that one cannot handle the same issue in the same way as no two people are the same and that one needs to have a basic understanding of human nature which enables one to communicate effectively. I feel this lesson ive learnt is also applicable in business where it comes to dealing with clients. As one must have a good knowledge about self awareness and put forth their proposal in accordance with the kind of person one is dealing with. In addition to that I have also worked at an institute called bal anand. It is an institute where children get free help in their studies. It is available for children coming from the slums.
I believe that this unique blend of experiences has made me a woman with an original point of view. This blend has given me a broader perspective to and a good understanding of life and a goal to aim for. These experiences have helped me in shaping up my attitude. I think it has been a very vital factor as I strongly believe in the famous saying: “It is your attitude and not your aptitude that determines your success”
I imagine, by molding students in a foreign country, the society is starting to build a new blood of more mature people who might just be able to create a better tomorrow for the generations to come. This is what I feel and hope to gain from this experience at the Indian Leadership Exchange Program NYU Stern.
